Shopping for Venues

The excitement of my engagement isn't dwindling as time passes as I thought it might. If anything, it gets more and more exciting every day. I often find myself in dull meetings at work daydreaming about wedding details like flowers, colors, locations--pretty much everything.

Last weekend Joey and I embarked on our first trip around town to find a location for our wedding. Here we are posing together by one of the garden lakes. Note the baseball cleats. We didn't get too many pictures of ourselves because only the two of us went, but the grounds were gorgeous and the garden was pretty close to where we live. It was a pretty dismal day and it was still beautiful, so that is a good sign. I also liked how they had a little train you could ride through the gardens. There was a volunteer running the train and he had a cute little engineer cap, just like one I had when I was a little girl.

This weekend, we planned to continue our search, but instead, I went to visit with my sister and parents in Thousand Oaks. They had the opportunity to see me for the first time after my engagement and there was a lot of excitement bubbling. Christopher was especially happy to see me smiling and pointing every time I appeared--even without the encouragement from his parents. I think he even said my name at dinner! Now he needs to learn Joey's name too.

If you have diligently read to here, I guess I owe you a real picture of Joey and I. Here we are in the Japanese garden. You can't see much, but we are in a little house with a Japanese style roof that is surrounded by a stream, trees, and the cherry blossoms. There were a lot of different garden themes from rose to camellia to Japanese to the Oak forest and everything was beautiful.
